Worth a look if you are wondering about scratching, paw licking, loose poo or a bowl they keep walking away from. These signs can have many causes; food is only one possibility.

if this sounds familiar

Is your dog scratching, unsettled after meals or walking away from the bowl?

These are three of the reasons owners start looking for a simpler food routine. This bundle does not assume food is definitely the cause. It helps you change fewer things at once.

A dog waking at night and scratching

itchy skin and paws

The scratching keeps coming back.

Food is only one possible cause. Keeping dinner and rewards on one animal protein removes one source of guesswork while you watch what happens.

A dog waiting beside a door with its owner nearby

an unsettled tummy

Some days are fine. Then they are not.

Loose poo, wind and a noisy tummy can have many causes. A consistent food-and-treat routine gives you a clearer place to start.

A dog turning away from an untouched bowl of food

fussy at the bowl

You put dinner down. They walk away.

The 1.5kg bag lets them try the food at home, with three matching rewards and a 30-day refund promise if it is not for them.

What the bundle changes

Dinner and the three included treats all use insect as their declared animal protein, so chicken, beef or fish does not creep back in through the treat tin.

Persistent, severe or worsening signs need a vet. This is not a veterinary elimination diet.

what the bundle does

Food and treats all use insect as their animal protein

You can change dinner without chicken, beef or fish creeping back into rewards. That means fewer variables while you watch what happens.

The honest bit: no food suits every dog. One verified buyer told us, “My dog wouldn't eat it,” and another dog took two weeks to accept the change. That is why the 30-day guarantee covers the whole bundle.

why this protein?

Insect protein gives your dog a different animal protein to try

Many dogs have eaten chicken, beef or fish more often than insect. That makes insect protein a sensible option when you want to try a less familiar animal protein.

Digestible

Feeding research found digestibility comparable with a meat-based diet.

Well accepted

Healthy adult dogs accepted insect-protein diets in feeding studies.

Complete food

The food is designed to provide adult dogs' daily nutrition when fed as directed.

Novel does not mean guaranteed hypoallergenic.

We do not have a feeding trial showing that black soldier fly protein suits every dog with a confirmed food allergy. Laboratory work has also identified a possible mite-to-mealworm cross-reaction. That is not the same as a clinical reaction to our food, but it is worth being open about.

Known mite or shellfish sensitivity? Ask your vet before switching.

your first week

Start slowly. Keep the rest simple.

  1. 1

Move onto the food over 5 to 7 days. Go more slowly if your dog's tummy needs it.

  2. 2

Use the feeding calculator for a starting portion, then adjust for body condition and activity.

  3. 3

If consistency is the aim, check chews, dental sticks, toppers and table scraps too.

  4. 4

Note appetite, poo and the signs you care about. If they persist, worsen or worry you, speak to your vet.

before you switch

The questions we would ask too

Will every dog eat it?

No food suits every dog. Most food reviews are positive, but one verified buyer said their dog would not eat it and another needed two weeks. The whole bundle is covered by our 30-day guarantee.

Is insect protein hypoallergenic?

It is novel for many dogs, but no protein is reaction-proof. No feeding trial has shown that black soldier fly protein suits every dog with a confirmed food allergy.

Is food definitely behind the signs?

No. Scratching, sore ears and tummy trouble can have many causes. If signs are persistent, severe or getting worse, ask your vet.

Is this a veterinary elimination diet?

No. The bundle keeps the declared animal protein consistent across our food and treats, but the recipes contain several plant ingredients. If your vet has asked for a strict elimination diet, follow their plan.

What if my dog has a known mite or shellfish sensitivity?

Laboratory work has identified a possible cross-reaction between mite allergy and proteins in mealworm. It has not been shown in a black soldier fly feeding trial. We would still ask your vet before switching.

Is the food suitable for puppies?

No. The treats are suitable from 8 weeks, but the food is a complete recipe for adult dogs. Use the bundle once your dog is fully grown.

Is this a subscription?

No. It is one £24.99 order. Nothing renews automatically.

What if it does not suit my dog?

Tell us within 30 days and we will refund the bundle in full. Change of mind is included and you do not need to return it.

My dogs love them!

A great multipack containing x2 lots of the Superfood, Nut Butter, and Calming treats. Great value considering the amount you get, and also the high quality natural, yet sustainable ingredients. All the varieties seem to be a hit with both my dogs - but especially the superfood variety - and they can be quite fussy! None of the flavours have an unpleasant odour like some dog treats, so they are ideal for putting in a treat bag with no mess. The pouch they come in is also resealable so that's a big plus point too. I’d say the actual treats are small bite size, but good for most dogs both small and large, if needing little pieces for training for example. Overall, I really love the concept - A welcome change in a sea of dog treat brands. Would highly recommend, and really hope to repurchase more from some grub!

Our vet fussy miniature poodle loves it

Our vet fussy miniature poodle loves it, and it's also safe for his ibd. It has a softer texture than most kibble and a strong smell, both of which are an advantage. The price is very reasonable too, so we're very satisfied.

Amazing food.

We have been on the food about 2 weeks now and very obvious results showing already.. First, Bob absolutely loves the food and picks it out to eat before anything else that might be in his bowl. Prior to this he sometimes refused or ate some meals without much enjoyment. SomeGrub has changed all that, meals get totally consumed with gusto within minutes of being put down to him. His overall condition is brilliant. His coat (black) has always been reasonably shiny but a little course! Now its like polished glass and getting softer and silkier by the day. His bowels are really good and his odd bouts of 'iffy' breath are no more.. He's a happier little guy now and certainly has his mojo back. This food is an absolute game changer for us, and I'm over the moon to have found it.

More than impressed.

Upon using the 200grm trial pack my very picky & sensitive rescue boy started picking out the new food to eat first! He loved it. My little rescue girl was not so keen, although usually will literally eat anything in her bowl! Kept trying using the pieces as reward titbits, this way seemed more acceptable to her! Since using the trial pack, I took delivery of a larger amount. My boy is over to the 'Some Grub' completely now and absolutely thriving. My girl is accepting it now (took 2 weeks) and is on transfer over to it.....cant be happier and more impressed with this new food right now..

Unique ingredients but misleading potein claim

I ordered this 3-pack of dog treats because I was intrigued by the use of insect powder—definitely not something you see every day. Each pack contains 100g of small, bite-sized treats, perfect for training. The flavours are varied and interesting: Berries & Banana (Green Superfood), Nut Butter (Yellow), and Carob & Zesty Orange (Blue Calming). The treats don’t have an unpleasant smell, which makes you quickly forget what they’re made of. Like many dog owners, I always check both the ingredients and the analytical composition to ensure I'm giving my dog high-quality treats. Each flavour contains 16% fresh insects and around 15–16% of additional ingredients like dried fruit or nut butter, however, the brand claims the treats have “more protein than beef,” which unfortunately doesn’t hold up. Here's a breakdown based on the packaging: Green (Berries & Banana): 16% insects, 15% berries — 10.1% protein Yellow (Nut Butter): 16% insects, 16% nut butter — 22% protein Blue (Carob & Orange): 16% insects, 15% carob — 11.3% protein For context, 100g of beef typically contains anywhere between 13–30% protein, depending on the cut—meaning two of the three treat varieties actually contain less protein than beef. As someone who pays attention to these nutritional details, this felt like misleading marketing. That said, my dog really enjoyed all the flavours and responded well to them during training. The small size makes them very convenient to use, and I do appreciate the novel, eco-friendly approach. Overall, while I admire the concept and my dog loved the treats, the protein claims and price point (£11.99 for the pack) stop me from giving it five stars.

Our Cockapoo likes them

A nice little selection of 'insect powered' dog treat pouches in this box. Three different types, and two of each. Our Cockapoo is munching his way through the 'superfood' berries and and banana variety, and seems to be really enjoying them. The pouches are a handy size and resealable. A bit of a premium priced dog treat, but you pay for what you get.
